ΛE Alumni Plan of Action

Brothers,

Over the past several days, we’ve been exploring options with Brother Gamble for keeping our charter on the wall and not allowing UCF to become involved concerning the future of the house. We are excited to announce we have a potential solution.

Brothers,

After reviewing the undergraduate's appeal plan that was submitted to Headquarters yesterday and the degree to which they have woken up, I am going to make a complementary recommendation to the SEC. I will be recommending that their appeal be granted, but as a trusteeship. There would be a non-Lambda Epsilon alumni brother appointed to oversee and approve or disapprove all chapter decisions. This should increase the SEC's confidence in the undergraduates following through with holding each other accountable. I think this significantly increases the chances of a successful appeal and helps to ensure we don’t lose the chapter house.

Semper,
Paul H. Gamble

As you know, we must change the current culture of our chapter and develop more leaders among the undergraduates. This will require STRONG alumni support (reference the “Alumni Plan of Action” and call for volunteer coordinators I sent you earlier today). Headquarters just tells UCF the charter isn't being revoked and the house/lease discussion ends.

To demonstrate support for the undergraduates and their appeal (transmittal letter attached), we need 50 or so personal letters from the alumni expressing your commitment to Kappa Sigma --- we all have to think of ourselves as part of something far bigger than a single chapter at a single university --- and to become more personally involved with the fraternity and our undergraduate brothers. We will provide copies of all your letters as a booklet to the SEC in advance of the appeal hearing in New Orleans on Sat. July 10. Our goal is to demonstrate that we are serious about turning these young men around. Please use the attached commitment letter template to prepare your letters. Please send your commitment letters to me by no later than June 21 (addresses provided in the template).

Finally, we need to get as many alumni as possible at the appeal hearing in New Orleans demonstrating our personal commitment to Kappa Sigma and our support for our undergraduate brothers. Over twenty undergraduates will be attending the hearing. Alumni brothers joining them in New Orleans include Brothers Gamble, Flynn, Patch, Stone, Strachan, Sutherland, Tessmer, Van Horn, and Woosley.  PLEASE JOIN US! Brother Tessmer is organizing a road trip to New Orleans and Brothers Patch and Voelpel are coordinating with those brothers flying from Orlando. Please demonstrate your commitment to Kappa Sigma and to making a difference in the lives of our young brothers.

If you have any questions about the trustee proposal, your commitment letter, what will be involved serving as a Volunteer Alumni Team member (ref, Alumni Plan of Action), and/or attending the appeal hearing, feel free to contact us.
